Couples Therapy

Have you tried to work on issues in your relationship but continue to feel stuck in the same unhealthy cycle? Sometimes our most valued relationships can loose track and we may find ourselves in the repeated negative patterns. We may feel lonely and isolated while not knowing what to do to feel closer to our partner. Using Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), I strive to help you identify the factors contributing to your current cycle, recognize emotional motives, moving away from destructive patterns and restore close connection. EFT is well-recognized as the gold standard for empirically validated intervention in couples therapy. Through our work together, couples will also improve their communication skills and learn how to express their needs to each other while working a team. I look forward to provide assistance and support in your journey to better and strengthen your relationship!

Here are a couple of things that you and your partner should consider when determining if couples therapy is a good fit for the relationship.

  1. Are both members of the couple committed to starting therapy? In many cases one partner is invested while the other member of the couple may feel forced to attend. This scenario doesn’t provide a stable foundation to start the process of working on your relationship.

  2. Do both partners want to continue working on the relationship? In some cases one partner is motivated while the other has already decided that the relationship is over. When considering couples therapy it is important for both partners to be motivated to work on and/or save the relationship.
